How to install a 816 deadbolt?
- Install latch. Measure backset (A), 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm). If a 2-3/4" (70mm) is required, extend bolt and adjust latch as shown. Install latch with bolt extended and secure with two small screws. For a drive-in latch, retract the bolt before installing, then extend bolt again before proceeding to next step.
- Install exterior assembly. Position the shield onto the exterior cylinder assembly. Once positioned, place the entire exterior assembly on door, aligning the torque blade through the latch.
- Install interior turnpiece assembly. Refer to Figure 6. With latch bolt extended, mount assembly flush on door. Insert large screws to engage exterior assembly and tighten to secure.
- Install strike plate and optional strike box. Screws require pilot holes.
